Classic mode

How Classic mode works in CutClub, the standard way to play.

Classic is the default CutClub experience. Everyone submits, everyone votes, points stack across the season, and whoever has the most at the end wins.

How it works

Each matchup follows the same structure:

  1. Theme drops: players see the prompt and have until the deadline to submit one song
  2. Voting opens: submissions close, all cuts are shown with submitter names visible, players distribute points
  3. Results post: voting closes, scores are calculated, standings update
  4. Matchup closes: 24 hours after results, the matchup is archived

Submissions

Each player submits one cut per matchup. In Classic mode, submissions are visible with the submitter's name as soon as voting opens: there's no anonymity phase. If you want submissions hidden until the reveal, that's Blind mode.

Late submissions are allowed by default in Classic, so players who cut it close can still get their pick in.

Voting

You have a pool of points to distribute across your favorite picks. There's a cap on how many points you can give to one song, and you can't vote for your own submission.

Standings

Points accumulate across every matchup. The season leaderboard tracks:

  • Total points: your running score across all matchups
  • Wins: matchups where you finished first
  • Podiums: matchups where you finished in the top 3
  • Matchups entered: how many rounds you've participated in

The player with the most total points at the end of the season wins.

Ties

If two players finish a matchup with the same score, both are marked as winners for that round and both receive a win in the standings.

Joining mid-season

Players who join after the season has started can participate from the current matchup onward. Previous matchups count as missed but don't affect eligibility going forward.
